Healthy Rhythms

A topic of discussion around the hallways of FFC has been the concept of healthy rhythms.  A rhythm is a regular, repeated pattern of movement – something you do daily or on in repetitious way.  We’ve all heard it:

“We are what we repeatedly do. Excellence, then, is not an act, but a habit. “

I’m not sure ‘excellence’ needs to be the prime focus of “this” healthy rhythm, but Aristotle is correct when he states that what we repeatedly do becomes our habits.  Our habits create who we are.  And more importantly, who we are is made up of millions of thoughts, beliefs and actions.  Specifically: small actions (habits) become the fabric of who we are.  In September the fine folks of FFC are going to start to reveal our ‘small actions’ in hopes that you will be inspired to create small shifts in your life – all of which are leading you closer to your most optimal.

THIS is one of my healthy rhythms: JUICING.  I used to juice regularly, but then my juicer became the bane of my existence.  Awful, awful … just awful juicer. It was loud, annoying and was the WORST to clean.  A solid 40 min project just to get a glass of green).   I then decided to invest in a Vitamix.  LOVE LOVE LOVE.  It’s amazing for so many reasons but it isn’t a ‘juicer’.  About a year later I polled all my hippie friends and many suggested my current model.  It’s fabulous.  It’s a single gear (low RPMs) masticating juicer.

Anyhow, juicing (especially 100% GREEN juicing) has a HUGE amount of benefit:

– Able to consume a wide variety of produce
– Assimilate nutrients faster
– Promotes alkalinity – shifts body from acidic to alkaline
– Youthful appearance, smoother skin
– Encourages weight loss/control
– Allows for efficient elimination
– Improves energy levels

Does it taste like a chai tea latte?  ABSOLUTELY!  Just kidding … OF COURSE IT DOESN’T!  It does, however, curb your desire for sugar, sugar and more sugar (or things that breakdown into … sugar).  It gives you tons of natural energy and is filled with zillions of nutrients and healthy enzymes.

Give it a go.  Stay tuned for more ‘healthy rhythms’ from FFC.
