Pregnancy and Children

Pregnancy Experienced Naturally

Pre & postnatal chiropractic care differs slightly to ensure the most gentle, comfortable and effective methods are used to bring your body into balance, naturally.  Special pillows and table positions allow the mother to accept adjustments with ease.

A complete consultation, history and physical examination, including our non-invasive state-of-the-art computerized diagnostics will ensure every mother understands the goals of care. Furthermore, she will fully understand how chiropractic care is particularly beneficial for her unborn child. With the proper information and plan, mothers & babies can achieve more from their care.

How Can Chiropractic Care Address Breech Presentation?

The Webster Technique is a gentle ligament release & adjusting protocol that has shown to be effective in reducing in-utero constraint. In-utero constraint is due to the transfer of tension that may exist across the uterine/abdominal area from stress imposed upon it from surrounding ligaments and improper sacral (pelvic) position. It has been associated with a high incidence of fetus’ that are in breech or abnormal fetal position.

If in-utero constraint is determined to be present, the Webster Technique is implemented to remove the restraining forces, thus allowing the baby to establish the preferred head-down position. It’s that easy!

Dr. Warner, Dr. Foster and Dr. Ramsey are certified in the analysis and utilization of the Webster Technique.

What Happens After The Delivery Of My Child?

Enjoy the return to pre-pregnancy state, but understand that your body is undergoing the greatest transition of its life. Chiropractic care is equally vital during this time as your body works to heal and re-balance from labour, delivery and the demands of raising an infant.

Why Pediatric & Infant Care is So Important

The nervous system is the one system in your child’s body that is in charge of accurately interpreting the messages coming from the environment and deciding which messages to send so the body appropriately adapts.  It is the master control system of growth, repair and the function of every tissue and organ in the body.

Drs. Warner, Foster & Ramsey have undergone extensive training in order to become highly proficient at detecting and correcting one of the most common and often undetected causes of interference to a child’s nervous system, the vertebral subluxation.

What is a Subluxation?

If your child’s body is stressed, either by physical, chemical or emotional influences,  a loss of normal spinal bone position and movement or a significant increase in the tone of the spinal cord may follow. This in turn causes a disturbance in nervous system function. This loss of normal function, and accompanying neurological disturbance, are referred to as spinal subluxations. This can impair your child’s nervous system from accurately receiving, processing and responding appropriately to changes taking place within their body and environment.

When Should Children Have Their First Chiropractic Check-Up?

One of the most physically, chemically and emotionally stressful events that we all go through in this life is being born. Because the birth process is unavoidably stressful, newborns are particularly susceptible to becoming subluxated during birth. Such stresses may not be immediately obvious and, if left uncorrected, may not become apparent for many years. To ensure your children get the right start in life, many progressive parents get their children checked by a chiropractor as part of postnatal care, to facilitate  optimal neurological growth and development. We are all born with an innate ability to self heal and regulate. A spinal adjustment to remove any neurological interference to this process allows for optimal development and ease during a period of time when the nervous system is changing so much.

If your older children have not had a chiropractic check-up, the sooner the better. It has been shown that negative patterns, if laid down early in life, may persist and limit a child’s future growth on a number of levels throughout their lifetime.

By having subluxations checked for and corrected throughout childhood, optimal growth and development happens with more ease.
