PEDIATRIC CHIROPRACTOR NEWMARKET

Gentle Chiropractic Care for Babies, Children, and Teens

As a parent, you want the best possible foundation for your child’s health. At Foster Family Chiropractic, pediatric care isn’t something we offer to round out our services — it’s been central to who we are for over 20 years.

We’ve watched babies become toddlers, toddlers become kids, and kids grow up to bring their own families through our doors.

Are Pediatric Adjustments Safe for Kids?

It’s what most parents ask, and exactly the right kind of question.

Pediatric chiropractors use gentle fingertip pressure calibrated to a small, developing body. There’s no twisting or cracking. Most babies sleep through the entire visit. Toddlers often don’t notice. Older kids and teens receive adjustments adapted to their size and age.

If your child is nervous, fussy, or needs a little warming up, we’ve seen it all and work around them. Nobody’s rushing, nobody’s stressed, and there’s no pressure to move faster than your child is ready for.

We have patients who came to us as babies and are now bringing their own kids in. We have families spanning three generations under our care.

It’s what happens when you invest in their foundation early and keep building on it.

Care That Grows at the Same Rate They Do

Back

Newborns (0-3 Months)

It’s never too early. Even a smooth birth puts real physical demand on a newborn’s body. Consider bringing your baby in when:

  • You want a check in the first days or weeks after birth
  • Breastfeeding or latch is difficult from the start
  • They seem unsettled or uncomfortable often
  • You notice a head tilt or they turn one direction more
No Insurance

Infants & Toddlers (3 months to 3 years)

As your child learns to roll, sit, crawl, and walk, the bumps add up fast. Consider bringing your infant or toddler in when:

  • They’ve had a significant fall
  • Sleep disruptions are ongoing and recurring
  • Ear infections keep happening
  • Milestones aren’t being hit at expected pace
Family Plans

School-Age Children (4-12 years)

Heavy backpacks, screens, and the physical demands of sport and activity create real challenges for growing spines. Consider bringing them in when:

  • Sports-related strains or injuries occur
  • Poor posture is present from device use
  • Headaches or focus issues are recurring
  • Digestive challenges are ongoing
Budget

Teenagers (13-18 years)

Growth spurts, hormonal changes, and increased athletic demands create a lot of demand on a developing spine. Consider bringing your teen in when:

  • They’ve hit a significant growth spurt
  • A sports injury needs recovery support
  • Headaches or back and neck pain show up
  • Stress-related tension isn’t resolving on its own

Why Starting Early Makes a Difference

Your child’s nervous system is so adaptable when they’re young. Patterns addressed in infancy — tension from birth, compensations from feeding difficulties, misalignments from falls and tumbles — don’t have to become something they carry into adulthood.

We have patients who came to us as babies and are now bringing their own kids in. We have families spanning three generations under our care.

It’s what happens when you invest in their foundation early and keep building on it.

When I first came to Foster Family Chiropractic, I was honestly desperate. I could barely move. I was in constant pain, relying on painkillers and muscle relaxants just to get through the day. I was also dealing with debilitating muscle spasms that would leave me unable to work, barely able to move, and needing help just to get through basic things. When those episodes happened, the pain would often linger for months afterward. My life had shrunk to going to work, pushing through the pain, and then going straight to bed.
Today… I can’t even believe the difference.
From the beginning, they gave me a clear plan and, more importantly, real hope. What stood out to me right away was their mindset, they weren’t trying to make me dependent on them forever. They told me the goal was to get me better, to the point where I might only need to come in occasionally for maintenance or when something flares up.
That level of honesty and long-term thinking meant everything to me.
They also encouraged a well-rounded approach to healing. They were completely open to me exploring other treatments like physiotherapy or osteopathy and genuinely wanted to be part of a bigger health plan, not control it. That’s something I hadn’t experienced before, and it made me trust them even more. (However I did not end up utilizing any of the other treatments)
I followed the plan they laid out, starting at three times a week, then twice, and now once a week. The progress has been life-changing.
I’m back in the gym. I’m moving comfortably at work. I haven’t had a muscle spasm in months. I feel strong again. I feel like myself again.
Beyond the physical results, the care I received here went deeper than just adjustments. They were kind, patient, and supportive through everything, even when I was dealing with other health concerns. You can truly feel that they care about you as a person, not just a patient.
I’m about to go on a vacation and won’t be seeing them for a few weeks, which would have terrified me before. Now, I genuinely believe I’m going to be okay, and that says everything about how far I’ve come because of them.
I honestly don’t think I’d be living the life I am now if I hadn’t come here.
I’m so, so grateful.

Dr. Ramsey truly changed my life.

After over a year of medical testing—x-rays, ultrasounds, endoscopy, and several medications—I still had no answers for my persistent abdominal pain. It wasn’t until a gastroenterologist suggested it might be postural that I turned to chiropractic care as a last resort.

At my very first visit, Dr. Ramsey approached my case with genuine care, curiosity, and a fresh perspective. She diagnosed me with costochondritis—something no one else had identified—and everything finally started to make sense.

With regular treatment, I’ve been able to manage the condition and return to daily life without chronic pain. Dr. Ramsey is not only incredibly skilled and knowledgeable, but also one of the kindest and most compassionate people I’ve met. I’m so thankful to have found her!

Your Questions, Answered

Is chiropractic care safe for babies?

Yes, when performed by a chiropractor with specific pediatric training, which all three of our doctors have. Adjustments for infants use very light fingertip pressure specifically adapted for small, developing bodies. No manipulation, no forceful movement.

How young can a baby be for their first visit?

We can safely examine and treat babies from birth. Many families bring their newborns in within the first days or weeks, if they are struggling with sleep, colic, or nursing difficulties. The sooner we can check, the sooner we can help (or give you the reassurance that everything looks great!)

Can chiropractic help my child sleep better?

Often yes. Tension in the upper neck can interfere with the nervous system’s ability to regulate sleep. When that tension is reduced, many parents notice their baby or child settles more easily and sleeps more restfully.

What are retained primitive reflexes and why do they matter?

Primitive reflexes are automatic movements that help babies survive and develop in their earliest months. Ideally they integrate and fade away as the nervous system matures. When they don’t, it can show up later as coordination difficulties, sensory challenges, focus issues, or developmental delays. Chiropractic care can support the neurological integration process as part of a broader care plan.

Can chiropractic help my child get sick less often?

It can. The upper neck is closely connected to immune function. When there’s tension or misalignment in that area, it can affect how well the body responds to illness. Headaches, joint pain and other discomforts can also affect the quality of your child’s sleep and make falling asleep more difficult.

How many visits will my baby need?

Every baby has different needs. We will always be transparent with you regarding our recommendation for treatment. Our chiropractic team will tailor a treatment plan to the specific needs of your baby, and you will always know what is being treated and why.
